The show opens on Friday nights, but seeing as I tend to get distracted by the club specials at the cash bar all the yummy food on display from local restaurants, I always return the following day, usually with my mom and Little Missy in tow, to get my real shopping done. This year my mother-in-law tagged along as well.
Say you: What did you buy?
Say me: Art. And a t-shirt. And earrings. Because I needed them.
Onward! My photo for the day, straight from a girlie's booth. I wish I could link to her, but I don't know her name and can't find her. Stupid, really, for not grabbing a card:
And my art purchase. My mom didn't like it. Neither did my mother-in-law. Good thing it's going to be hanging in my house and not theirs.
One other thing: My old blog. It's not happening, so let it go. I had a friend tell me that she missed it last night. That she subscribes to this one, she likes the pictures, but she misses the stories about the people I see. And I really, really appreciate that. But the voyeurism ship has sailed. I had a good run, but I was more than ready to come out of the closet and this is the stuff that excites me these days. I may sneak one in every-now-and-again but don't look for it to happen any time soon. (Thanks for continuing to read, Angela. *SMOOCH*) ->

advocacy/championing and voyeurism are not even similar. we are not oversaturated with people who are empathic to the downtrodden-
trench warfare's demise will be missed- good luck and good bye
I really miss Trench Warfare. It was one of three blogs that I read faithfully and loved. To be honest, this one is boring. Sorry if that sounds so mean. I am leaning towards removing from my favorites. I have tried to hang in there but it ain't workin' for me. But, I guess this new blog is for you and if you're happy go for it!
Ah, well. Sorry to disappoint, ladies. tuesday, thanks for sticking with me. Hope you won't leave the party, but do what you need to do.
Picture frames are exactly what I need! Shame on you indeed for not picking up a card.
I called your blog boring. That was just mean. I am sorry, please forgive me. It was a really bad day and I needed to take it out on someone. I picked your blog. I was walking(no, I was on a scooter because my frigging body is attacking itself) in that big box store with a little cash( a miracle)to spare and realized there is NOTHING I want to buy. What I want can't be bought. I want good health(well, yea, if I had thousands or insurance I might could have better health). I want grown children who are respectful. I want peace in my family. Just can't buy those things, so I guess I just decided to take it out on your consumerism blog.
All is forgiven, Tuesday. Thanks for clarifying and for following along.
I think you hit the nail on the head with the purpose of my project. It's a complicated existence (if you're at all introspective), living in a consumerist society and ultimately the things that make us truly happy can't be bought. But we keep trying don't we?
And for what it's worth, the consumerism project will last just a year, but hopefully the blog will live on. I'm assuming it will morph as time goes by. =)
If that's the art you bought, the half-finished girl thing with the blue paint spilling down it, I don't like it either. Glad you do though, and really glad it's hanging in your house.
:)
