I cannot tell a lie. I've been intrigued, more than once, with the concept of these bags. But something tells me they work much better on the infomercials than they do in real life and I've yet to pull the trigger.
I could embed the commercial for them. But I won't. Have you tried them? What do you think? ->

My nephew and almost-niece-in-law used them to move down to New Zealand for a year. They did reduce the size of the piles considerably (if not to the extent pictured on the box). The next test will be to see if they work just as well on the way back. 136 days and counting (mostly by my sister and Bronwyn's mum).
My MIL has one, and it works reasonably well. It is a pain in the arse however to actually pack and suck the air out of the thing.
Don't even bother. You might as well just pile everything into trash bags and sit on them to push the air out as you tie it shut. Either they use some sort of professional grade air sucker, or they use only extremely fluffy material that appears to shrink more than it actually does. They do help to a very minor extent. Take this advice from a military wife who has moved 5 times in the 5 years I've been married.
